The Artist-Blacksmith's Association of North America (ABANA)
is dedicated to perpetuating the noble art of blacksmithing. A blacksmith is one who shapes and forges iron with hammer and anvil. ABANA encourages and facilitates the training of blacksmiths; disseminates information about sources of material and equipment; exposes the art of blacksmithing to the public; serves as a center of information about blacksmithing for the general public, architects, interior designers, and other interested parties.

Social Media

ABANA is comprised of about 4,000 members and is affiliated with over 85 local groups all over the world. ABANA depends on the affiliates to professionally promote the art and craft of blacksmithing on both the regional and local level.

While it is not necessary to be an ABANA member to join an affiliate, it is a great idea to join both ABANA as well as an affiliate so that you receive information on the national and international level, as well as events in your own area.

Provided in the drop down menus under Affiliates you will find a Map showing the location of in your own area, a list of contacts for those affiliates. Every two months, the Affiliate Liaison Letter is posted as a communication tool between ABANA and the affiliates. ABANA provides grants for affiliates to bring demonstrators to area meets and conferences or other blacksmithing-related events that would promote the art and craft of blacksmithing. You can download the official application below!

ABANA Affiliate groups may use the ABANA web site to help publicize their major events.

First, we will run your banner ad in rotation with the others that have been submitted. The banner ad appears at the top of most ABANA web site pages. We need a .jpg file that is 600 pixels wide by 100 pixels tall. Also we need a web address that the site visitor should be directed to when the banner ad is clicked on.

Also your events can be included in the blacksmithing events calendar that is on the web site. Just send us the information which should include the beginning and end dates and a short description - generally not more than 1/3 of a page. That can include links to your web site where the visitor may get more information.

The calendar that is published in the Anvil's Ring is another resource for publicizing your events. But you must plan ahead! The event information must reach the Editor 6 to 8 months before the event.

In all cases, the request should be directed to the ABANA Central office at:

ABANA Central Office
259 Muddy Fork Road
Jonesborough, TN 37659
Phone: (423) 913-1022
Fax:     (423) 913-1023
Email: ABANA Central Office

Please indicate which of these resources you would like to engage so that they will direct your request appropriately.
